Lodge Visits September 2015

REPORT ON ROYAL NAVAL LODGE NO.2761 VISIT TO THE PRINCE OF WALES LODGE no 951

STOW ON THE WOLD, GLOUCESTERSHIRE, FRIDAY 25TH SEPTEMBER 2015

During a chance conversation some months ago, our Worshipful Master, W Bro Bill Spregg mentioned that he was born in Stow and would like to visit a Lodge there whilst he was in the Chair of 2761.

The necessary research was undertaken, establishing that there were in fact two craft Lodges meeting there. It was at length arranged to take a small group to visit the senior Lodge of the two at Stow on Friday 25th September.

Bill knowing the area arranged some delightful B & B at a Guest House in Bourton on the Water just a few miles from Stow and a party of 4 of us made our way there in good time.

The WM arranged a taxi so we could all enjoy a relaxed evening, made our way to the Lodge in Church St Stow, where we were enthusiastically greeted by one and all.

The old Masonic building contained a very attractive temple and the whole experience was enchanting. The ritual was out of the top drawer and the Festive Board was most enjoyable to boot and we all felt the experience was both enjoyable and very worthwhile and are already talking about a further visit.

The WM was accompanied by Bros Daniel Bowler, Junior Warden, and Mark Twist, Senior Deacon along with W Bro Mike Waterman, Secretary

This was another example of an “out of Province visit” taking Somerset Masonry to the neighbouring Provinces which again proved “Masonry universal”.

We are now very much looking forward to the next 2761 adventure to Plymouth to another Royal Naval Lodge no 3337 on 11th November 2015 for their annual special memorial meeting.
